12 months to go

• Select wedding date and time of day
• Consider hiring a wedding consultant
• Choose type of wedding - church, civil, formal, informal
• Decide on numbers
• Set budget and share of expenses
• Draft guest list and consider inclusion of children
• Select and reserve ceremony venue
• Book priest or registrar
• Select and reserve reception venue
• Choose bridal gown and groom's outfit
• Decide on colour scheme
• Collect relevant documents - passports, visas, birth certificates etc.

6 - 9 months to go

• Book photographer and video
• Choose or buy bridesmaids/page boys outfits
• Book musicians for ceremony
• Book band or disco for reception
• Select flowers and book florist
• Choose wedding list provider and select gifts
• Arrange any necessary accommodation
• Select and book wedding night suite

4 - 6 months to go

• Finalise guest lists 'A' and 'B'
• Order invitations and wedding stationery
• Plan honeymoon
• Shop for wedding gifts for each other and wedding party
• Buy bride's shoes, lingerie and accessories
• Buy bridesmaids' shoes and accessories
• Select and order wedding rings
• Choose and book wedding day transportation

2 - 4 months to go

• Select and order wedding cake
• Order party favours, balloons, decorations
• Ensure you have honeymoon wardrobe and luggage
• Write and send out invitations
• Trial wedding day make up and hair
• Obtain marriage licence (expires in three months)
• Select ushers
• Select and reserve wedding outfits for all men in the party

6 - 8 weeks to go

• Keep a record of RSVPs and early gifts
• Select your 'something old, new, borrowed, blue'

2 - 6 weeks to go

• Agree final food and beverages
• Finalise ceremony details with Officiant
• Arrange rehearsals
• Finalise floral arrangements
• Final fittings for bride and bridesmaids
• Decide order of receiving line and head table setting
• Contact guests that haven't replied
• Collect wedding rings
• Brief photographer
• Discuss seating plan with reception venue
• Produce list of music for disco/band
• Pick up honeymoon tickets

1 week to go

• Provide final guest numbers to reception/caterers
• Pack for honeymoon

Rehearsal Day

• Drop off wedding accessories at ceremony and reception locations
• Ensure necessary payments for services are in envelopes
• Pack overnight bag for wedding night
• Head for ceremony venue for rehearsal

The Big Day

• Try to eat breakfast!
• Pack remaining bits and bobs and put in cars
• Make sure Best Man has rings
• Put your engagement ring on your right hand
• Head for the ceremony and enjoy yourselves
